Grantmaking

Threshold’s grantmaking engages our volunteer network of members who bring a wide array of philanthropic experience to the process. Each annual grant cycle is a learning environment for members new to philanthropy and provides more experienced members opportunities to catalyze interest in areas of their own expertise.

In our quest to effectively mobilize philanthropic dollars and invest in new ideas and strategies, we regularly review and renew our grantmaking program, based on the needs of the field and the capacity of our foundation. Our grantmaking programs are volunteer-run and can last for as little as one cycle up to 8-10 years. Over the course of Threshold's 40+ year history, we have successfully supported thousands of organizations through dozens of grantmaking programs, place-based giving strategies, and issue areas.
